Mary Kathleen Vossler
"Loving Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother"
Allegany-- Mary Kathleen Vossler of 3375 North 7th Street passed away Friday (July 30, 2010) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born May 2, 1926 in Salamanca, NY she was the daughter of R. Arnold and Florence Clare Stayer. On August 25, 1943 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Richard E. Vossler who predeceased her July 27, 2006.
Mrs. Vossler was a graduate of St. Elizabeth's Academy in Allegany. She was a devoted housewife and mom and loved spending time with her family. She was a wonderful baker and a legacy quilter which she had made for and given to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where she was a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Chairwoman of the Bereavement Committee.
Surviving are 8 children Mary Lee Strakosh of Canandaigua NY, D. Lynn (J. Michael) Shane of Allegany, Richard F. (Madelyn) Vossler of Allegany, Kathleen M. (William) Giardini of Allegany, Anne P. (Daniel) Williams of Rushford, Patricia J. (James) Long of Englewood CO, Barbara J. (Kim Erickson) Vossler of Denver CO and Bernard E. (Patricia) Vossler of Allegany; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Elizabeth Cassell of Annandale VA; a beloved brother John D. Stayer of Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son Michael in 1969; 3 brothers Edward G. Stayer, James A. Stayer and Thomas S. Stayer and 2 sisters Nancy J. McCarthy and Suzanne Wilber.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (August 2, 2010) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
