Allegany-- Thomas W. Conklin, Sr. of 2066 Michaels Way passed away Saturday (April 10, 2010) at the Olean General Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
Born May 19, 1951 in Olean, he was the son of Charles W. and Evelyn J. Gerry Conklin. On August 10, 1974 at Sacred Heart Church in Portville, he married Phyllis Sutter, who survives.
Mr. Conklin had received his M.B.A degree from St. Bonaventure University, and since 1981, he has been employed at KOA Speer Electronics in Bradford. He was a member of the St. Bonaventure Church, the Allegany Knights of Columbus Council 1220 and a past member of the National Accounting Association.
He enjoyed playing golf, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cooking and woodworking. He was an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish Fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his children.
Surviving besides his wife are 4 children Thomas W. Conklin, Jr. of Allegany, Timothy M. (Emily) Conklin of Long Beach, CA, Sean P. Conklin of Allegany, Kaitlin Conklin of Allegany, 1 sister Linda (Fred) Taft of Olean; 2 sisters-in-law Judy (Bill) Haines of Clintonville, PA, Mary Ann Pupo of Rochester; 3 brothers-in-law Mike (Ruth) Sutter of Olean, John (SunPok) Sutter of Georgia, Tom (Carrie) Sutter of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Darlene McGiveron of Virginia.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by 1 Uncle Richard Gerry and his grandparents Thomas (Jane) Gerry.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (April 14, 2010) beginning with a 10:30 prayer service at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
