Mary A. Yorke Olean, NY-- Mary A. Yorke of 427 N. 1st St. died peacefully Wednesday (April 30, 2003) in her home. Born March 8, 1916 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Thomas and Neva Yared Yorke. Miss Yorke had resided in Olean all of her life and had been employed as a head cashier for Loblaws in Olean and for Bells in Bradford, Pa. from 1954 until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Maronite Catholic Church and dearly loved her family. Surviving are 4 sisters Margaret Yorke, Rose Yorke, Edith Hamed and Eva Moses Yorke, all of Olean and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Nellie Yorke Simon and Sadie Yorke Harris and a brother Louis Yorke. Friends will be received today from 4 until 7pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Friday (May 2, 2003) at 10:00am in St. Joseph’s Maronite Catholic Church in Olean. Rev. Joseph G. Akiki, administrator, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. An incense prayer service will be held tonight at 6:45pm in the funeral home. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
