Obituary of Kevin Pusey

Kevin J. Pusey "Loved his Lord and family" Allegany, NY-Kevin J. Pusey of 103 N. 5th St. died Wednesday (October 14, 2009) in his home under the care of his family and hospice. Born December 24, 1935 in Queens, NY he was the son of William and Genevieve Donley Pusey. On December 26, 1991 in North Hempstead, NY he married Janis G. Gray who survives. Mr. Pusey was a 1959 graduate of St. John's University in Queens, NY and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English. He later received his Masters in Education degree from SUNY New Paltz. His teaching career began in 1959 with the Port Jefferson School District, first in the elementary school and later as an English teacher for the high school. He continued teaching high school English for the Liberty, NY School District until his retirement in 1990. He and his wife later moved to Allegany to the more relaxed pace of life of a small town. It was there that he enjoyed working part time at the Kwik Fil gas station as it afforded him an opportunity to meet and talk to new people. Mr. Pusey was a member of the New York State United Teachers, St. Bonaventure Church, and was a former member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Parish in Manhasset, NY. He was a prayerful man who worked quietly for others as God's servant. He was a faithful reader of the Bible and he enjoyed traveling to spend time with his family. He also was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed drawing. Surviving besides his wife are his stepmother Fran Pusey of Horseheads; 11 children Kevin J. Pusey, Jr. of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Megg (Anthony) Chalupa of New Braunfels, TX, Erin Graf of Jupiter, FL, G. Adam (Julie) Pusey of Morgan's Point, TX, Brian Pusey and Jay Pusey, both of Liberty, NY, Bonnie (Thomas) Lane of Brattleboro, VT, Benjamin Pusey of Bolivar, NY, Colleen Stoneham of Glen Allen, VA, and Kelly Stoneham and Collin Stoneham, both of Allegany; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother William (Patti) Pusey of Brattleboro, VT; 2 sisters Ellen (John) Himmelreich of Horseheads, NY and Rosemary (Cy) Auris of Binghamton, NY; a sister-in-law Martha Pusey of Port Washington, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 brother Brian Pusey and 1 sister Martha Lux. At Mr. Pusey's request, his body is being donated to the University of Buffalo Medical School for anatomical study. There is no visitation scheduled at this time. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date to be announced. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Bonaventure Church or to The Franciscan Heritage Scholarship Fund C/O St. Bonaventure Parish, Allegany, NY 14706.
