Obituary of Florence Walton

Florence G. Walton Olean-- Florence G. Walton, of 130 W. Green Street, passed away Friday (August 28, 2009) at the Absolut of Allegany after a brief illness. Born December 18, 1922 in Olean, she was the daughter of A.i. and Lucinda Barnes Smith. On September 10, 1943 in Olean, she married Jacob Walton, who predeceased her in 1994. Mrs. Walton enjoyed playing solitaire and was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan. She loved sitting on her front porch and waving at the people and cars going by. She was a past member of the Showers United Methodist church. Surviving are her three children James Walton of Olean, Gary (Kathleen) Walton of Olean, Penny (Donald) Gordon of Olean; 2 grandchildren Donald Gordon Jr., Gary (Amanda) Walton Jr.; 2 great-grandson Peyton and Jake; 1 sister Marcia (Robert) Dailey of Laughton, NV; several nieces and nephews, including 3 special nieces Carol (Dale) Osborne, Rhonda Walterich, JoAnn (John) Mulligan; a special nephew Tom Johnston; and a dear friend Sue (Mike) Gerringer. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by 1 brother George Smith. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (September 1, 2009) at 10 am at the funeral home. Dr. Anthony Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
