Obituary of Nancy Carpenter

Nancy S. Carpenter Allegany, NY- Nancy S. Carpenter of 1927 Upper Birch Run Rd passed away Monday August 24, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, Florida. Born November 3, 1951 in Buffalo, NY she was the daughter of C. Peter. and Ora (Mickey) I. Maxson Massing. On June 13,1975 in Portville, NY she married Bradley L. Carpenter who survives. Also surviving is her son Aaron from Allegany; 3 step daughters Laurie, Michelle, and Nicole of the Cleveland area; 2 sisters Deb Clark of Houston, TX and Kathy Massing of Granite Falls, NC; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a younger sister Barbara Jean. Nancy earned an Associate's degree from JCC, graduating with honors. She later went on to work as an RN for a number of years. She enjoyed shopping, working on crafts, woodworking, quilting, knitting, cooking, baking, gardening, boating, and spending time at the beach. Most of all she enjoyed taking care of her friends and family and will be remembered for her warmth and compassion. Memorial services will be held at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Visitation will be held from 9-10am, at which time services will begin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.
