Oliver C. "Ollie" Ullman
"Loving family man"
Allegany, NY-Oliver C. "Ollie" Ullman of 2467 Ten Mile Rd. died Friday (August 7, 2009) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born March 30, 1917 in Quaker, NY he was the son of Roy and Viola Tallcat Ullman, Sr. On October 13, 1940 in Allegany, NY he married his wife of 63 years, Velma J. Miller, who predeceased him October 28, 2003.
Mr. Ullman served with the Civilian Conservation Corps during WWII in the Allegany State Park area. For many years he had been employed as a truck driver for the former Finton Delivery Company and Wheeler Motor Express in Salamanca. He was a licensed taxidermist. After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling to flea markets and camping at Highbanks Campground. He especially enjoyed doing his wood crafts.
Surviving are 3 sons Merle (Marlene) Ullman, Hank (Marie) Ullman and Mark (Laura) Ullman, all of Allegany; 1 daughter Ella Mae Frank of Killbuck; 1 daughter-in-law Nan Ullman of Great Valley; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother Roy Ullman, Jr. and 1 sister Betty (Cliff) Hund, both of Great Valley and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a son Roy E. Ullman; 3 brothers Fred Ullman, Charles Ullman and Elton Ullman and 2 sisters Florence Cherry and Loretta Waterman.
Friends will be received on at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State St. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (August 11, 2009) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
