Olga S. Swetland “No Thanks, I’ll Walk” Olean—Olga S. Swetland, a 4 ½ year resident of the Bradford Manor, formerly of Aspen Towers and Alder Court Apartments, died Sunday (January 13, 2008) at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, Pa after a short illness. Born November 22, 1912 in Bridgeport, OH, she was the daughter of Victor and Mary Lagon Saler. She married Richard J. Swetland, Sr. who predeceased her on October 12, 1962. Mrs. Swetland was employed by the former W.T. Grant Co. for 20 years at the soda fountain as a waitress as well as at the former S. S. Kresge Co. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the RSVP Program where she was recognized for her 20 years of service from 1975-1995. Surviving are a son Jack P. Swetland of Olean; 7 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother Irvin Saler of Coudersport, PA and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by 1 son Richard J. Swetland, Jr. in 1993 and 2 sisters Stella Zolse Dougherty and Mary Hook. At Mrs. Swetland’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church 202 S. Union St. Olean. Arrangements are under the direction of Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
