Obituary of Lyle M. Bennett

“Former Allegany and Limestone Resident”
Shinglehouse—Lyle M. Bennett, formerly of 2591 Eleven Mile Road, Shinglehouse, Pa, most recently of the Bradford Manor, passed away Friday (January 18, 2008) at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, PA.
Born July 10, 1933 in Vandalia, NY he was the son of Charles and Leona Reed Bennett. He married Cora Frank who predeceased him on April 7, 1977.
Mr. Bennett served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War as a medic assistant. Later he was employed by Fancher Furniture Co. where he had worked for 35 years. He was recognized by the former New York State Governor George Pataki for all his contributions he had made to hospitals and other organizations by collecting cans.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the American Legion Hughe Skiba Post #535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296, both of Salamanca. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cabinetry work and spending time at the Senior Center.
Surviving are 2 daughters Rosalie (David Haskin)Peterson of Shinglehouse, Pa and Leona (James) Spiess of Limestone; 3 grandchildren Cora Bennett, Jennifer Bennett and Justin Spiess; 3 great-grandchildren Aaron Dailey, Cody Dailey and Catelyn Dailey; 1 sister Fay Hogan of Allegany and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, Olean on Monday from 2-4pm. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday (January 23, 2008) at 3pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany. Rev. Daniel !McKee, pastor will officiate.
Memorials if desired may be made to the Senior Centers of either Shinglehouse, PA or Limestone, NY.
