Madolyn S. Simon “Loving Mom and Grandmother”
Olean—Madolyn S. Simon of 229 N. 3rd St. passed away Saturday (January 19, 2008) in her home after a brief illness.
Born October 16, 1912, in Addison, NY, she was the daughter of Tony and Barbara E. Smith Stoling. In 1934 she married Icar J. Simon, Sr. who predeceased her in 1996.
Mrs. Simon belonged to St. Joseph’s Church in Olean and St. Joseph of the Forest Church in Silver Springs, Florida. She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending winters in Florida.
Surviving are a son Ronald P. Simon of Olean, a brother Paul Stoling of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich, a half sister June M. Howard of Smethport, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter Regina Elizabeth Pontus, a son Icar J. Simon, Jr., a sister Rose B. Loop and a brother Theodore Stoling.
At Mrs. Simon’s request, there will be no services. Memorials if desired may be made to !HomeCare & Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
