Obituary of Frances A. Bess

Frances A. “Fran” Bess “Loving mother, grandmother and friend” Olean, NY—Frances A. “Fran” Bess of 127 ½ S. 9th St. died Thursday (March 13, 2008) in The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center, Olean. Born July 20, 1921 in Salamanca, NY she was the daughter of John and Louise Marinari Agnelli. She was married to Kenneth H. Bess who predeceased her. Mrs. Bess attended St. Patrick’s Parochial School in Salamanca and lived in Olean most of her life. She was first employed at Icky’s Cookies, the Plaid Stamp Redemption Center and the Hannifan Shoe Store. She retired as a clerk for many years from the Sample Store in Olean. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and she enjoyed reading, bowling, walking and watching the NY Yankees. She was always one to remember other people’s special occasions and would send greeting cards and cook special foods for them. Surviving are 3 sons Ronald Bess of Olean, Kenneth (Ginny) Bess of Sandusky, OH and David (Debbie) Bess of Olean; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 sister Reva !DeArmitt of Allegany and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 3 brothers Carl Agnelli, Albert Agnelli and Peter Agnelli; 1 sister Josephine Metka and 1 great grandson Caleb Bess. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 3-7pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (March 17, 2008) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church.
