Suzanne M. “Sue” Wilber
“Loving mother, grandmother and sister”
Allegany, NY—Suzanne M. “Sue” Wilber of 3952 Church Rd. died Friday (May 16, 2008) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness.
Born November 24, 1936 in Allegany she was the daughter of Arnold and Florence Clare Stayer. She was married to Orville W. Wilber who predeceased her July 18, 1998.
Mrs. Wilber attended St. Bonaventure Parochial School and was a graduate of Allegany High School. She had helped operate the family owned B & O Wilber Farm and Wayne Feeds.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. She was an excellent baker and was affectionately known by her family as “Mema Sue”.
Surviving are 3 children Christine M. (Jeff) Smith of Olean, Karen S. (Ron Holly) Wilber of Hinsdale and Michael J. (Kelly) Wilber of Allegany; 8 grandchildren Brock Smith, Bradley (Rachel) Smith, Brennen Smith and Brady Smith, all of Olean and Michael Wilber, Jr., Mitchell Wilber, Kylee Wilber and Kelsey Wilber, all of Allegany; 2 great grandchildren Shiann Smith and Kole Smith; 1 brother John (Fran) Stayer of Allegany; 2 sisters Kathleen Vossler of Allegany and Betsy Cassell of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 3 brothers James Stayer, Edward Stayer and Thomas Stayer and 1 sister Nancy !McCarthy.
There will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Monday (May 19, 2008) at 10:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Limestone All-Sports Boosters or to the Allegany Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
