HELEN M. DOUTY OLEAN - Helen M. Douty of Cranberry Rd. died Thursday May 15, 2003 at the Olean General Hospital. Born in Costello, PA on December 2, 1917 she was a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Pomehter Petrosewitz. On May 7, 1947 in Coudersport, she married Edgar L. Douty who predeceased her March 13, 1998. Mrs. Douty was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where she was a member of the Alter Society and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed sewing and sewing bibs for the church and gardening. She is survived by a daughter Eileen Hoover of Lyons, IL; one grandson; brothers, Anthony (Emma) Petrosewitz of Shinglehouse, PA and Chester (Joanne) Petrosewitz of Coudersport, PA; sisters, Mary (Robert) Walters of Costello, PA and Wanda Reed of Coudersport, PA; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Douty was predeceased by a brother, Stan Petrosewitz and a grand daughter, Michelene Hoover. Friends will be received on Sunday May 18, 2003 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday May 19, 2003 beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM will be celebrant. Burial and committal will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
