Jane A. Morris
Allegany, NY—Jane A. Morris of 52 N. 4th St. died Thursday (May 29, 2008) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born December 19, 1920 in Blakely, PA she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Ridilla Lagvanec. On August 28, 1946 at Holy Ghost church in Olyphant, PA she married William Morris who survives.
Mrs. Morris was raised and schooled in Blakely and worked for the former F. W. Woolworth Co., moving to Olean in 1950. She then worked for Bradner’s Department Store in Olean for 18 years.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved reading, cooking and flower gardening. She especially enjoyed traveling on vacation visiting family and friends.
Surviving besides her husband are 2 daughters Patricia (John) Shepard of Winchester, VA and Mary Jo Snyder of Olean; 4 grandchildren Jeffrey Livingston, Bryon Shepard, Gregg Snyder and Brett Snyder; 2 sisters Elizabeth Hallesky of Jermyn, PA and Theresa Koniszewski of Peckville, PA and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 1 brother Joseph Lagvanec and 2 sisters Gabrielle Slimak and Marianne Matichak.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (June 2, 2008) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church with Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, to be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
