Edward W. Bothwell
Allegany, NY—Edward W. Bothwell of 2510 W. Five Mile Rd. died Saturday (August 9, 2008) in his home after a long illness.
Born January 26, 1922 in Staten Island he was the son of William and Christina Schick Bothwell. On June 14, 1944 in Alliance, Nebraska he married Rose C. Zuzek who survives.
Mr. Bothwell was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps having served during WWII. He attended St. Bonaventure University and later worked as a salesman most of his career in the Western New York area, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He also was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia and books. He enjoyed the outdoors and was once a beekeeper. He also enjoyed his beloved cats Phoebe and Lily.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years; 2 daughters Susan Bothwell of Denver, CO and Mary Bothwell of Nashville, TN; 1 son William (Marlene) Bothwell of Olean; 1 sister Matilda Werntz of Bergenfield, NJ and several nieces.
He was predeceased by 3 sisters Agnes Schnurr, Christina Kelly and Marion Hutton and 1 brother William Bothwell.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday (August 11, 2008) at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice, 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 147560 or to the SPCA, 2944 Olean- Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
