Gary A. Clancy Allegany, NY—Gary A. Clancy of 3411 Five Mile Rd. died Wednesday (September 10, 2008) in the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness. Born November 26, 1945 in Salamanca, NY he was the son of Joseph and Ruth Bailey Clancy. On October 10, 1986 in Olean he married Barbara J. Endersen who survives. Mr. Clancy was a 1963 graduate of Ellicottville Central School and had attended Buffalo State College. He was a sergeant in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for the Social Security Administration from 1972 to 1996, retiring as operation supervisor. He was a member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892. Surviving besides his wife are 3 children Terry (Penny) Clancy of West Seneca, Sheila (Mike) Ransbottom of Depew and Michelle (Scott) !McKinney of Lockport; 7 grandchildren Victoria Clancy, Nicholas Clancy, Jonathan Clancy, Mark Ransbottom, Rachel Ransbottom, Sean !McKinney and Ryan !McKinney; 3 half siblings Donald (Caroline) Clancy of Sherman, Colleen Green of N. Tonawanda and Marilyn (Walter) Hartman of Niagara Falls, several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Cindy Clancy of Cuba. He was predeceased by a brother Paul R. Clancy on March 29, 2003. A memorial visitation will be held at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday (September 13, 2008) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Dan !McKee, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany, will officiate. Members of the Allegany American Legion will accord full military honors at the funeral home. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the SPCA 2944 Olean Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760, the Allegany Fire Department or to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
