Obituary of Geneva C. Peterson

Geneva C. “Jean” Peterson “Grandma Jean” Olean, NY—Geneva C. “Jean” Peterson, formerly of Meadowbrook Colony died Monday (September 15, 2008) in The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born March 25, 1915 in Oil city, PA she was the daughter of Francis and Alice Shoup Brissee. She was a lifelong resident of the Olean area and had been employed as an elevator operator for 33 years at the former Manufacturers Hanover Bank Building in Olean. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany and had been a volunteer for the former St. Francis Hospital. Surviving are 1 daughter Beverly (James) Peterson of Olean; 7 grandchildren Timothy (Gayle) Peterson of Allegany, William (Sandy) Peterson of Olean, Debbie (Jeff) Rhinehart of Eldred, PA, Douglas (Jody) Peterson of Olean, Carol Peterson of Olean, Kathy Gross of Lancaster and Lorraine (Rick) Ross of Olean; 14 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; 4 sisters Eleanor Songer of Bradford, PA, Rita Hensley of Hurricane, Utah, Patricia Todd of Souderton, PA and Dora Pawlakowski of Elyria, OH; 1 brother Francis Brissee of Scottsdale, AZ and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 1 son Milton A. Peterson and 2 sisters Margie Fritz and Ann Brissee. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (September 18, 2008) at 10:30am in the funeral home. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
