Obituary of Georgianna C. Margeson

Georgianna C. “Punky” Margeson “Loved her family” Allegany, NY—Georgianna C. “Punky” Margeson of 32 N. 3rd St. died unexpectedly Friday (September 19, 2008) in her home. Born August 10, 1933 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Vincent and Ruth Schnell Bockoven. Mrs. Margeson was a 1951 graduate of Allegany Central School and had resided in Allegany all of her life. She had been employed as a teacher’s aide for the special education curriculum for BOCES in Olean for fifteen years. She later worked at JC Penny Co. in Olean for several years prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany and enjoyed membership in the Allegany Fireman’s Auxiliary, the Sixty Plus Club and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader and she loved cooking large meals for family gatherings. She was known for her sense of humor and she enjoyed her family, as well as her friends from bowling and Sixty Plus Club trips. Surviving are 3 sons Carl V. (Deborah) Margeson, David (Teresa) Margeson and Tim Margeson, all of Allegany and Christopher (Ruth) Margeson of Olean; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including a special niece Cameron (John) Donoghue of Brooksville, FL and her children Jackie Donoghue, James (April) Donoghue and Mark (Liza) Donoghue. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant son Michael Francis Margeson; a sister Jane Walsh and a brother Bradner Bockoven. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (September 22, 2008) at 11:00am in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany. Rev. Gerard leFeber, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Public Library.
