John J. “Jack” Mucke Olean, NY—John J. “Jack” Mucke of 216 N. 24th St. died Thursday (September 25, 2008) in the Olean General Hospital. Born March 12, 1928 in Olean, NY he was the son of George P. and Clara H. Strube Mucke. On August 16, 1958 at the St. Bonaventure University Friary Chapel he married Wanda L. Polen who survives. Mr. Mucke was a 1946 graduate of Olean High School and then served with the US Army Air Corps from 1946 to 1947. He had been employed as a union electrician in Olean for many years with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #106. He was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, the Olean Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the Olean Knights of Columbus Council #338. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1619 in Olean where he had played the trombone in its Drum and Bugle Corps. His hobbies included stamp and coin collecting as well as flower gardening. He also enjoyed model trains. Surviving besides his wife of 50 years are two children Pamela A. (Michael) !McNulty of Apex, NC and John P. (Gina) Mucke of Olean and three grandchildren Ashley E. !McNulty, Kendre N. !McNulty and Olivia Mucke. He was predeceased by a stepson Michael Latten in 2007, 1 brother Paul Mucke in 1934 and 1 sister Mary H. Mucke in 1936. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday (September 29, 2008) at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church or to the Knights of Columbus Council 338 129 Hamilton St. Olean, NY 14760.
