Obituary of Mary A. Rouse

Mary A. Rouse Olean—Mary A. Rouse of 301 W. Henley St. Apt 106 passed away Tuesday (October 7, 2008) at the Rochester General Hospital after a long illness. Born May 29, 1924 in Austin, PA, she was the daughter of Grant and Lelia !LaMont. Prior to moving to Olean man years ago, she had been a resident of the Portville and Allegany areas. Mrs. Rouse had been employed at the former Castle Inn Motel, the !DeSoto Motel as well as the former Holiday Inn. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a cook in the rectory of St. Mary of the Angels Church. She enjoyed reading, word search books, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Surviving are her 2 daughters Sharon (Paul) Shewairy of Olean and Beverly Lyons of Allegany; 4 grandsons Kris Shewairy of Olean, Robert Lyons III of Vista CA., Eric Rouse of Cuba, James P. Rouse Jr. of Hinsdale; 1 grand daughter Carolyn (Bernie) Jackson of Ft. Wayne IN.; 1 sister Marilyn Hooftallen of Austin, PA.; 1 niece Carol Linn; 3 nephews Donald (Kay) Linn, Joseph ( Sharon) !McLarney, Philip (Sherry) Linn; and 2 special friends Evelyn Gilbert and Romaine Green, both of Olean. She was predeceased by a son James P. Rouse; 3 sisters Nellie Linn, Della Barr, Thora !McLarney; 2 brothers Clark !LaMont, Jack !LaMont; and a son-in-law Robert Lyons Jr. Private funeral services will be held on Friday (October 10, 2008) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Rev. Kristin Allen, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery in Eldred PA. Friends are invited to attend a luncheon at Brookside Apartments at 2pm on Friday. Memorials if desired may be made to the American Lung Association or the SPCA 2944 Olean Hinsdale Rd.
