Obituary of Alton L. Eastman

Alton L. Eastman, Sr. Olean-- Alton L. Eastman, Sr., of 3050 Route 16, passed away Thursday (October 9, 2008) shortly after admission to the Olean General Hospital Born February 19, 1949 in Olean, NY he was the son of Wilford and Phyllis Woodruff Eastman. On July 17, 1976 in Christ United Methodist Church in Olean he married Pamela J. Kirtz who survives. Mr. Eastman was a 1967 graduate of Hinsdale High School and he was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with U.S. Navy Seabees. He had worked at Dresser Clark Co. and later for 33 years for the Heavy Highway and Building Local #621 in Olean, retiring in December of 2007. He was a lifetime member of the Hinsdale Fire Department and was a member of the Cattaraugus County Trappers Association. He loved hunting, fishing and trapping. Surviving besides his wife are his mother of Hinsdale; 2 sons Alton Eastman Jr. of Olean and Michael (Vicky) Eastman of Hinsdale; 3 grandchildren Andrea Eastman, Dillon Herron and Tyler Eastman; 3 brothers Eugene Eastman and David Eastman, both of Hinsdale and Kenny (Joyce) Eastman of Farmersville; 1 sister Linda Schmidt of Hinsdale; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, 1 daughter Jessica Eastman on October 5, 1984 and a brother-in-law William Schmidt. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road on Saturday from 7-9pm and Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday (October 13, 2008) at the funeral home. Rev. Rusty Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse, PA will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar. Memorials if desired can be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department, American Diabetes Association 315 Alberta Drive, Suite 102 Amherst NY, 14226 or to Trappers.
