Obituary of Alma M. Chesebro Rex

Alma M. Chesebro Rex Allegany-- Alma M. Chesebro Rex, a former resident of Karl Road in Allegany, and most recently a resident of the Pines in Machias, passed away Wednesday (December 24, 2008) at the Pines of Machias Campus. Born February 9, 1917 in Olean, she was the daughter of Clair and Grace Whitney Whitlock. She married Kenneth Chesebro in 1934 and he predeceased her in 1961. In April of 1962, she married Milo Rex, who predeceased her in 1981. Mrs. Rex was a graduate of Allegany High School. Her mission in life was to serve the Lord. She was a very active member of the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany, where she taught Sunday school and was the church organist and pianist for many years. She also enjoyed baking and cooking. Surviving is one son Stephen (Nancy) Chesebro of Allegany; 11 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many great- nieces and great- nephews. Besides both of her husbands, she was predeceased by 1 daughter Esther Smith in February 2008; 2 sons Harlan “Mike” Chesebro in September of 1992, Donavan Chesebro in July of 1993; 2 sisters Medora Potter, Viola Dunham; and 1 grandson Kenneth Chesebro in February of 1997. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm, Visitation will continue on Saturday (December 27, 2008) from 10-11am at the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany. Funeral services will be held at 11 am at the church. Rev. James Mitchell, pastor of the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany will officiate. Burial will be in the Five Mile Cemetery in Allegany.
