Veronica M. “Babe” Nenno
DeBary, FL—Veronica M. “Babe” !McCabe Nenno of 112 Homestead Ave. died at her home in !DeBary on Saturday (January 6, 2007).
Born October 20, 1913 in Chipmonk, NY she was the daughter of Constantine T. and Margaret Gladney !McCabe. On September 22, 1938 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, she married John W. Nenno, who predeceased her July 20, 1974.
Mrs. Babe Nenno was raised in Chipmonk, having attended the rural school and was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. She worked for several years at New York Telephone Company in Allegany and later resided in Avon, Batavia, and Niagara Falls, NY from 1952 until 1976. While there, she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society, enjoyed league bowling, and was actively involved in her children’s schools - Madonna High School and Bishop Duffy Catholic School. She moved to !DeBary, FL in 1976 where she was a member of St. Ann’s Parish. She was an integral part of her grandchildren’s lives also. Her house was frequently filled with visitors and she was seldom alone. Her joy and enthusiasm were contagious and there was warmth being in her presence. She had an incredible sense of humor and a playful nature about her that could put anyone at ease.
Surviving are a son Richard (Teresa) Nenno of Avon, NY; a daughter Barbara A. Nenno of !DeBary, FL; three grandchildren: Katie (Josh) Kaye, A.J. Kusimor and Philip Farnstrom; three step-grandchildren: John Delaney, Jeff Delaney, and Tim Delaney; a great granddaughter Stephanie; a sister-in-law Genevieve Farrell of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews, including Betty Palumbo and Mary Jo O’Meara of Olean.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by three brothers: Constantine !McCabe, Richard !McCabe and Edward !McCabe, and five sisters: Josephine !McCabe, Loretta !McCabe, Margaret !O’Meara, Agnes Dieteman and Gertrude !McGinnity.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday (January 9, 2007) from 10:00am until 11:30am at which time a prayer service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant, and Msgr. Thomas Walsh will be the concelebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
