Obituary of Richard A. Suckow

Richard A. “Dick” Suckow Olean, NY—Richard A. “Dick” Suckow of 401 Alder St. Apt. 46 died Monday (February 12, 2007) in the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 7, 1935 in Holland, NY he was the son of Frank William and Frieda Hattie Ziecker Suckow. Mr. Suckow formerly resided in Cuba and Allegany prior to moving to Olean many years ago. He had been employed for Clark Bros. Co., now Dresser-Rand Co., and also worked as a bartender for the Olean Elk’s Lodge. Most recently he had been employed by Greenthumb prior to his retirement. He had social memberships in the Olean Moose Lodge and the Olean Elk’s Lodge. He also was an avid bingo player and he enjoyed daily purchases of scratch-off lottery tickets. Surviving are 7 children Susan M. Lord of Tucson, AZ, Cheryl A. Sisson of Olean, Ellen M. (Daniel) Petersen of Allegany, Richard A. (Theresa) Kavanaugh of Allegany, Valerie J. (Albert) Loftus of Olean, Rose (Kyle) Cleveland of Olean and April Suckow of Olean; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 brother Lester R. (Marian) Suckow of South Wales, NY; 2 sisters Ruth M. Frank of Sandusky, NY and Elsie M. Stowell of Ft. Myers, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was looking forward to the birth of his sixteenth grandchild soon. He was predeceased by a grandson Robert Shoup, III; 1 great grandson Evan Thomas Bailey; 1 brother and several sisters. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (February 14, 2007) at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Rev. Jay Gilbert, pastor of Rock of Revelation Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
