Obituary of Grace E. Dreier

Grace E. Dreier “Loving wife, mother, grandmother” Allegany—Grace E. Dreier of 25 Oak Street Allegany, passed away Thursday August 30, 2007 at The Olean General Hospital. Born April 7, 1927 in Oswego, NY she was the daughter of Nicholas and Ruth Schauffler Donahue. On June 11, 1949 at St. Joseph’s Church in Buffalo, she married Richard Dreier who predeceased her on April 13, 2005. Mrs. Dreier graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo. She was first employed by Acme Electric in Allegany and later for K-Mart also in Allegany. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, and kitties. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and volunteered at The Bridge. She also participated with “Motion Plus” at the Olean YMCA for many years. Surviving is a son Michael (Susan) Dreier of Jacksonville, Florida, 2 daughters Linda (Rick Rogers) Dreier of Canandaigua, NY and Kathy (Tom) Martin of Allegany; 1 sister Kathryn Couch of Omaha NE; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandsons. Besides her husband she was predeceased by two sisters Agnes Dowd and Mary Dowd. Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road on Monday (September 3rd, 2007) from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday beginning with a prayer service at 10:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to Interfaith Caregivers 34 N. 4th St. Allegany or The Olean General Hospital Foundation.
