James Lee Pierce
Dayton, TX-- James Lee Pierce, of 82 Live Oak Lane died Saturday (June 21, 2003) in Texas as a result of a motor vehicle accident involving his having been struck by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle in a Dice Run.
Born November 1, 1959 in Olean he was the son of Lyle E. Pierce and Shirley Riordan Schirmer.
Mr. Pierce was a graduate of Allegany Central School and has resided in Texas for more than 23 years. He was employed as a truck driver for many years with Evans-Coopridge and also for Be-Line Trucking. He enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his mother of Belmont, NY; 2 sons James Lee Pierce, II and Kyle Brandon Pierce, both of Dayton, TX; 9 brothers and sisters including Edward (Karen) Pierce of Baytown, TX, Lyle Pierce, Jr. of Mt. Jewett, Pa., Catherine (Frank) Liguori, Diana Henderson, both of Allegany, Scott (Lori) Pierce of Belmont, Major (Kami) Pierce, serving with the US Army in Missouri, Susan (Ort) Maynard and Beverly (Bill) Borden, both of Allegany and Laurie (Nathan) Love serving with the US Army in Lenwood, CA and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father January 17, 2002.
A memorial tribute was held by the motorcycle community in the Dayton area on Wednesday evening. A visitation and funeral service was held Thursday at the Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown, TX.
Friends will be received on Tuesday (July 1, 2003) from 6-8pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will follow at 8pm in the funeral home. Prior to the visitation, friends are invited to join the family at the Allegany American Legion for a luncheon from 3-5pm. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
