VIRGINIA M. RAU OLEAN - Virginia M. Rau of Washington Street, died Saturday June 28, 2003 at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Olean Campus. Born in Oil City, PA on July 29, 1916 she was the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Decker Reilly !VanAntwerp. On January 17, 1942 at Trinity United Methodist Church she married Henry W. Rau, Jr. who predeceased her December 30, 1955. Mrs. Rau resided in Baltimore for four years prior to returning to Olean in 1945. She was employed by the Olean Board of Education where she worked at Olean High School for 21 years prior to retiring. She is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons; Richard A. Rau of Duke Center, PA and William H. (Darcy) Rau, Sr. of Limestone, NY; a daughter, Patricia L. (Ralph) Bottone of Limestone, NY; eight grandchildren and several great grand children. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Kaye E. Roark There will be no public visitations. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday July 1, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean. Rev. Gerald Piper, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial and committal services will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 131 N. 9th Street, Olean, NY 14760; Cattaraugus County Health Department, Home Health Care, 1701 Leo Moss Dr., Olean, NY 14760; the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, 2245 West State Rd., Olean, NY 14760 or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Western, NY Chapter, 2060 Sheridan Drive, Buffalo, NY 14223.
