Derah E. Jackson
Olean, NY—Derah E. Jackson died Wednesday (November 7, 2007) in The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean where she had resided since 2001.
Born September 30, 1912 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Grover C. and Anna M. Graham Waldeck. On June 8, 1940 at the First Presbyterian Church in Olean she married Alvin A. Jackson who predeceased her in 1994.
Mrs. Jackson attended Olean schools and was a beautician in Olean for many years before moving to Buffalo. There she managed AM&A’s Beauty Salon. Upon her retirement she and her husband moved to Sarasota, Florida where she had resided for twenty years. She moved to Salamanca in 1994 to make her home with her niece Derah Gibble and returned to Olean in 2001.
Surviving are 1 sister Betty J. Chevassu of Olean and several nieces and nephews, including Robert (Gloria) Waldeck of W. Seneca, Eugene (Jacqueline) Waldeck of Fort Meyers, FL, David (Mary) Waldeck of Niagara Falls, NY, Harold (Carol) Waldeck of N. Tonawanda, Dawn (Jacob) Guercio of Hutchinson, KS, Linda (Richard) Woessner of E. Lake, OH, Derah (Robert) Gibble of Salamanca, Marianne (W. Roy) Scott of Mechanicville, Jeanne (John) Pfeiffer of Olean and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 2 brothers Harold S. Waldeck and Harlow c. Waldeck.
There will be no prior visitation. A service of remembrance will be held at The Pines in Olean at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be in St. Frances Memorial Garden located at St. Wilfred’s Episcopal Church in Sarasota, FL.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
