Allegany, NY-- Paul F. Nolan of 3324 N. 7th St. died Sunday (July 6, 2003) at The Waters of Allegany.
Born February 5, 1922 in Chipmonk, NY he was the son of James E. and Mary M. Pisconski Nolan. On May 7, 1949 in Salamanca, NY he married Bernice J. Brol who survives. They celebrated 53 years of marriage this year.
Mr. Nolan was a 1939 graduate of Olean High School and had resided in Allegany since 1951. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945.
Mr. Nolan was a retired pattern maker for the former Clark Brothers Co., later the Dresser Clark Company, having worked from February 1940 until March 1984.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where he served as an usher for many years, was a member and past president of the Sixty Plus Club of Allegany, and was a member of the Allegany Knights of Columbus Council 1220 and the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892. He served as past president and business manager of the former Pattern Makers Association of Olean and vicinity. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 4 daughters Kathleen Ascioti of Syracuse, NY, Linda (Thomas) Pepperdine of Allegany, Mary Fair of Bradford, PA and Nancy (Warren) Sinclair of West Henrietta, NY; 1 son David (Grace) Nolan of Allegany; 7 grandchildren; 4 brothers James E. Nolan of Allegany, Edward Nolan of Bemidji, MN, Eugene (Jeanne) Nolan of West Henrietta, NY and Thomas Nolan of Olean; 2 sisters Margaret Bush of Olean and Marian Waterman of Las Vegas, NV and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Robert V. Nolan.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean where a prayer service will be held Wednesday (July 9, 2003) at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Bonaventure Church, the Allegany Fire Department, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
