Obituary of Joyce E. Daniels

Joyce E. Daniels Olean, NY—Joyce E. Daniels of 506 W. Green St. died Thursday (December 27, 2007) in the Olean General Hospital. Born January 21, 1927 in Portville, NY she was the daughter of Lloyd and Beatrice Peterson Gayton. She was married to Douglas D. Daniels who predeceased her August 10, 2004. Mrs. Daniels was previously employed as a nurse’s aide at the Veterans Hospital in Buffalo and had later worked for the Olean Public Library for ten years. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed reading cookbooks and will be remembered for her homemade spaghetti and her apple pies. Surviving are 1 daughter Ann M. Daniels of Olean; 1 sister Phyllis Matta of Olean; several nieces and nephews including Gary (Cindy) Parks of Olean and James Gayton of Olean; several cousins including a special cousin Elaine Wright of Portville and a close friend Rhea Baldwin of Olean. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 3 brothers Arnold C. Gayton, Gerald L. Gayton and James E. Gayton and 1 sister Constance W. Gayton. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (December 29, 2007) from 10am until 11am at which time funeral and committal services will be held. Rev. Gerald Slack, pastor of Sacred Temple Church in Olean and Rev. Michael Nolder, pastor of the Living Waters Church in Olean will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials may be made to the Olean Public Library or to the American Kidney Foundation.
