Ronald F. !McComber Allegany, NY-- Ronald F. !McComber of 3974 Route 417 Lot 42 died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday (January 17, 2006) after a brief illness. Born August 20, 1918 in Watertown, NY he was the son of George D. and Delia Sausville !McComber. On June 21, 1940 in St. Theodore’s Church in Rochester he married Josephine T. Schwartz who predeceased him February 26, 1999. Mr. !McComber was first employed by the Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester. He then served in the US Army during WWII from 1943 until 1945 and was the recipient of 4 bronze stars. He operated a dairy farm for many years in the Potsdam and Watertown area. He then began working for the Niagara Falls Power Authority in the early stages of its construction, later retiring from the State Power Authority. He moved to Knapp Creek in 1984 and attended St. Bonaventure Church. He was also a former member of the Niagara Falls American Legion. Surviving are 1 daughter !JoAnn Currie of Allegany; 1 son David !McComber of Rochester; 5 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 2 sisters Loretta Johnson and Mary Tucker, both of Rochester and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Barbara !McComber in 1964 and a brother Glen !McComber in 2004. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 1-4pm. Funeral services will be held Friday (January 20, 2006) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard, Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
