Obituary of Elizabeth C. Mazza

Elizabeth C. Mazza "Retired teacher, avid reader" Olean – Elizabeth C. Mazza died Monday January 23, 2006 at St. Joseph Manor. Born in Olean on November 11, 1913 she was the daughter of L. Antonio and Barbara Reiger Mazza. Miss Mazza was a graduate of St. Elizabeth's Academy. She was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University and received her Masters degree at Columbia University in New York. She was employed as an English teacher for Otto-Eldred Schools and later taught English at Olean High School, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and St. Mary of the Angels Church. Elizabeth enjoyed playing the piano for her family. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed mystery books. Elizabeth was a Buffalo Bills football fan and a St. Bonaventure basketball fan. She is survived by two nieces Cynthia (Ronald) Forness of Allegany and Barbara (Frank) Moser of Bellingham WA; five nephews Richard E. (Donna) Mazza of Summerfield FL, Thomas A. (Rosalinda) Mazza of Concord CA, Timothy J. Mazza of San Luis Obispo CA, Ronald Mazza and Mike (Joann) Mazza, both of Bellingham, WA; several cousins including Raymond (Theresa) Questa of Allegany and Mary Maderer of Altendorf, Germany. She was predeceased by her brothers Albert Mazza in 1985, Leonard Mazza in 1988 and a nephew Gregory L. Mazza in 1987. There will be no public visitations. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday January 27, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Angels Church. Fr. Gregory Dobson, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to the Olean Public Library or to St. Mary of the Angels Church.
