Barbara J. Kelly “loving mother and grandmother” Olean, NY-- Barbara J. Kelly, a former resident of 401 Alder St. died peacefully Sunday (January 29, 2006) at The Pines in Olean while surrounded by her family. Born July 12, 1917 in Allegany, NY she was the daughter of Willis and Beatrice Horton Turner. On June 8, 1941 at the former First Methodist Church in Allegany she married Kenneth H. Kelly who predeceased her February 27, 1967. Mrs. Kelly was a lifelong resident of Allegany and was a 1936 graduate of Allegany High School. She had worked for the former W. T. Grant Co. in Olean for 13 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Olean and was a charter member and past president of the Allegany American Legion Auxiliary. She also served as chaplain of the Cattaraugus County American Legion Auxiliary and also was a volunteer for the Olean General Hospital for several years. Surviving are 3 sons Kenneth W. (Joanne) Kelly of Portville, Thomas (Darlene) Kelly of Allegany and James (Sherri) Kelly of Olean; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Stetz. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral and committal services will be held Wednesday (February 1, 2006) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Paul Cauvel, minister of visitation at Christ United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery, Oswayo, PA. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
