Obituary of Avilda May Holtz

Avilda May “Tillie“ Holtz Olean, NY-- Avilda May “Tillie” Holtz of 350 Front St., formerly of Cranberry Rd. passed away peacefully Wednesday (March 1, 2006) in the Olean General Hospital. Born December 8, 1924 in Cobden, IL she was the daughter of Crayton and Eva Barker Lee. On June 17, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany she married John A. Holtz who predeceased her December 22, 2005. Mrs. Holtz worked at Acme Electric Corp in Allegany for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels and had also been an active volunteer for the American Red Cross. Surviving are 1 daughter Eva (Dean) Travis of Portville; 1 son John E. (Kathy) Holtz of Sodus, NY; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 4 sisters Margaret Cuneo of Kersey, PA, Helen Eisloffel of Milton, NY, Beatrice Hollobaugh of Ridgeway, Pa and Kathryn (Floyd) Holtz of Olean; 3 brothers Robert (Pat) Lee of Paragould, AK, John (Hilda) Lee of Brockville, PA and Crayton (Ricky) Lee of Girard, OH and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday (April 1, 2006) in St. John’s Lutheran Church at 11:00am. Burial will be alongside her husband in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942, the Salvation Army, Oprah’s Angel Network or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
