Obituary of Jean M. Moses

Jean M. Moses “Loving mother and grandmother” Olean, NY-- Jean M. Moses of 302 S. Union St. died suddenly Thursday (March 30, 2006) at the home of her daughter where she had resided for the past six months. Born September 17, 1934 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Miles and Florence Sweitzer Holcomb. Mrs. Moses attended St. Mary of the Angels Parochial School and graduated from Olean High School in 1952. She first worked as a waitress at various restaurants in the Olean area and later worked as a manager for F. H. Oakleaf Co., Inc. in Olean. She was then employed as an office secretary for Shawley Office Equipment, Inc. for several years until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church. She loved visiting with her family and friends. Surviving are 7 children Daniel J. !DiPaola of Virginia, Anthony S. !DiPaola of Florida, B. Kathleen (Scott) Jehlen of Florida, Karen Edwards, Michael !DiPaola, George (Christine) Moses, Jr., Pamela (Robert) Devling, all of Olean; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 sister Mary Cloutier of Hollywood, FL; a sister-in-law Antonie Reilly of Florida and 2 nieces. She was predeceased by a brother William Holcomb in 1988. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (April 3, 2006) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church or to Meals on Wheels, N. 4th St. Olean, NY 14760.
