Obituary of Bernice C. Beard

Bernice C. Beard "Loving mother, grandmother and sister" Olean, NY-- Bernice C. Beard of 3158 W. State Rd. Olean died Saturday (May 6, 2006) in Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility, Cuba, NY. Born June 17, 1908 in Cuba, NY she was the daughter of Charles and Bertha Hedden Chamberlain. On December 30, 1933 in Olean, NY she married Earl W. Beard who predeceased her in April 24, 1985. Mrs. Beard was a resident of Olean most of her life and had worked at the Olean Times Herald prior to her marriage. She was a longtime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Olean and was active in many ways including teaching the children’s Sabbath School Class and other community services through the auspices of the church. Surviving are a daughter Ann (Eric) Fuller of Olean, NY; 1 son Gary Beard of Olean; 3 grandchildren Beth (Stephen) Hoosier, Jill (Tony) Peralta and Erin (Scott) Hogan; 2 great grandchildren; 1 sister Beatrice Danielson of Victor, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 2 sisters Blanche Schwabenbauer and Beulah Beard and 2 brothers Carl Chamberlain and Charles Chamberlain, Jr. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-8pm. Funeral services will immediately follow at 8:00pm in the funeral home. Rev. William !McNeil, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church 620 W. Sullivan St. Olean, NY 14760.
