Obituary of Theodore H. Edel

Theodore H. “Ted” Edel “Longtime Allegany resident” Englewood, FL--Theodore H. “Ted” Edel, 69 of Allegany, N.Y. and Englewood, FL passed away Monday (May 22, 2006) at the Englewood Community Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 6, 1936 in Olean, N.Y. to Henry C. and Violet Birmingham Edel. Mr. Edel served in the U.S. Army following the Korean conflict. He retired in 1995 from the Operating Engineers of Union Local 17. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and traveling. He moved to Florida with his wife Marie in 1997 and settled in Englewood, FL. He will be deeply missed by his wife Marie Edel of 21 years; a son David Edel of Belfast, NY; a daughter Darlene Edel Mueller of Port Charlotte, FL; 3 grandchildren Angela Schmitz of Great Falls, MT, Shane Edel of Olean N.Y. and Kara Schmitz of Port Charlotte, FL; 2 sisters Janice Edel Reiley of Bradford, PA. and Teresa Edel Remmy of Englewood, FL and several other relatives who will remember Ted and miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Marilyn Edel Horton and Shirley Edel Crusen. The family will welcome friends from 10:30 TO 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, (May 27,2006) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will follow at 11:30am in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
