John F. Martin
Olean, NY--John F. Martin of Wayne St. died Friday (July 18, 2003) at his residence.
Born December 1, 1926 in Olean, NY he was the son of Andrew G. and Mary Shuback Martin.
Mr. Martin was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. He had been employed by Alcas Cutlery prior to his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of Olean and was a former member of St. John’s Church.
Surviving are 3 sisters Mary Dornburg, Veronica Laing and Anne Batesky, all of Olean; 1 brother Edward Martin of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers George "Boots" Martin and Andrew Martin, Jr. and 5 sisters Rose Jurenko, Elizabeth !McGraw, Julia !McNeill, Margaret Gattuso and Helen Wittenburg.
Friends are invited to attend a prayer service to be held Wednesday (July 23, 2003) at 9:30am in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. John’s Church. Msgr. William Wangler, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
