Esther J. Servatius “avid gardener” Allegany, NY—Esther J. Servatius, a former longtime resident of the South Nine Mile Rd. died Monday (July 17, 2006) in the Bradford Ecumenical Home in Bradford, PA. Born November 26, 1911 in Scandia, PA, Elk Township, she was the daughter of John A. and Nellie Swanson Anderson. On October 18, 1942 in Warren, PA she married Jack C. Servatius who predeceased her May 26, 1988. Mrs. Servatius was a former Bradford resident for many years and had resided in Allegany since 1968. She attended business school in Jamestown, NY and first worked for Bovaird & Seefang Co. in Bradford. She later worked for Dresser Clark Co. in Olean, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean and was a former member of the Bradford Desk and Derrick Club. She had volunteered for over ten years at the Allegany Nursing Home, now The Waters of Allegany, and was also a volunteer for the Allegany Public Library. Surviving are a cousin Agnes Ekey Myer of Warren, PA, several nieces and nephews, and close friends Archie and Judy Wood of Allegany. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 3 sisters Ellen S. Anderson, Rosella M. Sorensen and Julia M. Anderson and 2 brothers Albert D. Anderson and Carl A. Anderson. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday (July 21, 2006) from 11:00am until time of services at 1:00pm. Rev. Donald Andersson, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to the Allegany Public Library.
