William C. Howard, Sr.
“Loving husband, father and papa”
Allegany, NY—William C. Howard, Sr. of 4130 Route 417 died Saturday (July 22, 2006) in the Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born August 9, 1933 in Olean, NY he was a son of Arland S. and Elladene Winship Howard. On August 5, 1953 in Olean he married Molly L. White who survives.
Mr. White was a graduate of Olean High School and had served as a sergeant with the US Army from 1951 until 1955. He worked for Dresser Rand for over forty years, first as a field representative which took him to many places in the world and later as a test supervisor. He retired in 1996.
He was a member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 where he served many years on its honor guard. He also belonged to the Olean Masonic Lodge 252 F & AM, the Masonic Bodies in Jamestown, and was a member of the NRA.
Mr. White was a patriot, dedicated to his country, loved history, especially the Civil War and will be greatly missed by his family.
Surviving besides his wife of 53 years are 2 daughters Debra Wilday of Allegany and Linda (Stephen Brocious) Howard of Cuba; 2 sons William C. (Mari) Howard, Jr. of Olean and Robert P. (Kimberly) Howard of Harmony, NC; 11 grandchildren Kristen Wilday, Daniel Wilday, Jamie Wilday, Amanda Howard, Kirk Howard, Kyle Howard, Kelby Howard, Cameron Howard, Payton Howard, Nicholas Howard and Zachary Howard; 1 brother David A. (Janet) Howard of Allegany; 1 sister Marilyn S. Smith of North Carolina and 6 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today (Sunday) from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (July 24, 2006) at 1:00pm in Christ United Methodist Church, Olean. Rev. William Allen, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cuba Memorial Hospital or the !ReHabilitation Center, 1439 Buffalo Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
