Advance, NC—Wayne !LaRue Woodruff of 383 Hall Walker Lane died Saturday (July 29, 2006) in Forsythe Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC after a brief illness.
Born January 16, 1938 in Olean, NY he was the son of Vernon and Loretta Mark Woodruff. On October 19, 1957 in Weston Mills he married Donna Doner who survives.
Mr. Woodruff was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School and attended St. Bonaventure University. During his career as a computer draftsman, he and his wife lived in various cities including Hinsdale, Wellsville, Florida, Arizona and in Advance, NC for the past two years. His most recent employer was Vergoon and Berger Construction Co. of Melbourne, FL.
He was a member of the Olean Masonic Lodge 252 F & AM and was an avid St. Bonaventure Basketball fan, having been a ticket holder since their playing days in the Armory building. He also coached Little League in Hinsdale and was a member of the Sports Boosters. He was also a fan of the Buffalo Sabres.
In addition to his career as a draftsman he and his wife collected and sold antiques out of stores located in malls in the various cities where they resided.
Surviving besides his wife are 4 children Cindy (Paul) Wyant of Advance, NC, Mark (Dawn) Woodruff of Cuba, Craig (Robin) Woodruff of Advance, NC and David (Stacey) Woodruff of Wellsville; 9 grandchildren; 4 sisters Frances (Phillip) Lyle of Reading, CA, Dorla (Andrew) Zalar of Sebastian, FL, Verna Grimes of East Avon, NY and Gail Gardner of Apache Junction, AZ; 1 brother Larry (Madelyn) Woodruff of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 1 brother Howard Woodruff.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (August 2, 2006) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Carl Schultz, pastor of the Maplehurst United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
