Obituary of Rita J. Borst

Rita J. Borst Olean, NY—Rita J. Borst of 122 N. 8th St. died unexpectedly Thursday (August 17, 2006) in the Olean General Hospital. Born October 27, 1945 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Mahlon L. and Mabel Smith Borst. Miss Borst was a lifelong resident of N. 8th St. in Olean and was a graduate of Olean High School. She then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in gerontology. She had been employed as a social worker for the former St. Francis Hospital and later for the Olean General Hospital, retiring in 1987 due to disability. She was a former volunteer for hospice in Olean. Surviving are 1 sister Nancy B. Dugan with whom she resided in Olean and 5 nieces and nephews including Kathleen (Steve) Jaap of Bacliff, TX, Sean (Sandy) Dugan of San Antonio, TX, Patricia (William) Zaepfel of Indianapolis, IN, George T. Dugan of San Francisco, CA and Kevin (Tina) Dugan of Rowlett, TX. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by 1 nephew Dennis Dugan. At Miss Borst’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
