Roberta Anderson –
“Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother"
Olean- Roberta Lane Anderson 93, of 1114 Washington Street, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 19, 2006.
Born February 20, 1913 in Rushford NY, she was the daughter of Burt and Lillia Lewis Lane. On August 19, 1933 she married Carl E. Anderson who predeceased her on July 9, 1979.
Roberta attended Olean schools and in 1930 graduated from Williamsville High School were her sister was a teacher. In 1931, she graduated from Westbrook Commercial Academy in Olean. Prior to her retirement in 1977, she was employed for 13 years for Bradner's Department Store in Olean and served as office manager.
Mrs. Anderson served as treasurer of the Olean Senior League; she was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Eastern Star, the Business and Professional Women Clubs, and Amaranth.
Surviving are two sons Carl R. (Mary) Anderson of Springfield VA, Richard D. (Janice) Anderson of Ely, England, two daughters Ruth R. Anderson of Olean, who provided loving care for her at home and Arlene (Ronald) Filjones of Allegany, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by two brothers Laurence B.Lane and Louis V.Lane, two sisters Myrtle Lane !McFarland and Blanche Tapp Hill.
Private funeral services were held for the family on Tuesday August 22, 2006 with burial at Mt. View Cemetery's Veterans' Field of Honor Olean. Rev. Donald Andersson pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church officiated. Memorials may be made to Home Care & Hospice. Arrangements were under Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 State St. Olean.
