Edward F. Snyder Olean, NY—Edward F. Snyder of 1005 Irving St. died Thursday (August 24, 2006) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born December 21, 1936 in Salamanca, NY he was the son of Wayland and Gertrude Wellington Snyder. He was formerly married to Alice !McClory who died in September 2003. Mr. Snyder was a graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville and resided in Franklinville most of his life prior to moving to Olean in 1988. He had been employed as a meat cutter for 45 years and most recently worked for 28 years for Tops Markets, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed doing carpentry work and also enjoyed the serenity of his back yard. Surviving are 1 son Donald (Sharon) Snyder of Houston, TX; 1 daughter Sandra Snyder of Olean; 3 grandsons Shawn Snyder, Dustin Provorse and Nicholas Provorse; 2 sisters Mary Lou Gilbertson and Janice Snyder, both of Franklinville and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Douglas Snyder in 1962. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Sunday (August 27, 2006) at 2:00pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Rev. Bert Tidlund will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or to The National Audubon Society Department W, 700 Broadway New York, NY 10003.
