Obituary of Michael J. Ondes

Michael J. Ondes "his friends were his family" Jamestown, NY-- Michael J. Ondes, a resident of 91 Harris Ave. since 1995, died Saturday (July 19, 2003) at WCA Hospital, Jamestown. Born October 27, 1924 in Olean, NY he was the son of Andro and Anna Yursisian Ondes. Mr. Ondes attended school in Olean and later received vocational training prior to his employment for 17 years with the former Olean Furniture Co. He lived in Westfield prior to moving to Jamestown in 1988. He had many interests including reading newspapers where he kept himself well-informed on the subject of politics. He enjoyed time spent with his friends playing bingo, eating donuts at Tim Horton’s, playing rummy, and he especially liked telling stories to others of his childhood. There are no known living family members. He was predeceased by 5 brothers and sisters including Andrew Ondes and John Ondes. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday (July 22, 2003) from 10:00am until noon at which time funeral services will be held. Rev. David Johnson of Olean will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Westfield, NY Fire Department.
