Thomas R. “Bo” Rogers
Farmington, NY—Thomas R. “Bo” Rogers of 1047 Fairdale Glen, an Olean native and former resident of Rochester, died Friday (September 1, 2006) in the Canandaigua, NY VA Medical Center after a long illness.
Born February 21, 1948 in Olean, NY he was the son of Ralph P. and Albina Pascucci rogers. On March 21, 1998 at Peek’n Peak Resort in Clymer, NY he married Ann Graham who survives.
Mr. Rogers was a graduate of Rochester Business Institute and later attended the University of Ft. Lauderdale. He then enlisted in the US Army where he served his country from 1969 until 1971. At that time he returned to the university to complete his BS degree.
He had worked in several different occupations including owner and operator of Bobo’s Bar in Allegany (now the Hickey Tavern) and later as owner of the former Casa D’Roma Restaurant in Olean. He was also employed for several years in the public transportation business, first for !BlueBird Coach Lines where he opened the Erie, Pa and Rochester, NY offices. He then was owner and operator of Great Lakes Coach. Most recently he and his brother operated a construction company where they primarily built new homes.
In the last five years he had pursued his passion of training race horses at the Fingerlakes Race Track. He also avidly followed his daughter’s recent soccer career. His dog "Yosa" was his constant companion.
Surviving besides his wife are 6 children Carrie (Chuck) !McGinty of Colorado Springs, CO, Connie (Rich) Sayers of Chili, Paul Rogers of California, Matthew (Kelly) Gumtow of Olean, Brandon Gumtow of Farmington and Alyssa Gumtow of Farmington; 4 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 1 brother Ralph T. Rogers, Jr. of Rochester and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by her parents and a brother Nicholas Rogers.
Friends are welcome to attend a memorial visitation at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 6-8pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (September 5, 2006) at 10:00am in St. John’s Church in Olean. Msgr. William Wangler, pastor, will be the celebrant. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the family residence of Mr. Rogers for use toward college expenses for his daughter Alyssa.
