Marian L. Cullather Allegany native
Michigan City, In.-- Marian L. Cullather of 307 Lawndale Place died suddenly Saturday (August 24, 2002) in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Born March 4, 1921 in Olean she was the daughter of Hiram and Matilda Schaffer Eaton. On September 11, 1948 in St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Francis "Red" Cullather who predeceased her January 11, 1976.
Mrs. Cullather was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Academy and was a longtime resident of Allegany until 1961, having moved to South Boston, Va. until 1963. She then resided in Rochester until 1972 at which time she moved to Michigan City, Indiana. Since 1999 she has been living in Rochester and also in Sarasota, Fla.
She was a member of the AGLOW in Michigan City and was a former member of the Ladies Catholic Benevolent Association, the Lady Knights and the Catholic Daughters of America, all of Allegany. Her family was the center of her life and she had been looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild soon.
Surviving are 2 daughters Dianne (Peter) Smith of Rochester and Deborah Cullather of Chesterton, In; 1 son Brian (Amy) Cullather of Sarasota, Fl; 2 sisters Ruth Cash of Olean and Jeanne (Eugene) Stopha of Bolivar; 1 brother Alfred (Rita) Eaton of Allegany and several nieces, nephews and brothers-in law and sisters-in law.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by an infant son David Cullather and 3 brothers Clayton Eaton, Harlan Eaton and Daniel Eaton.
Friends may call at the Loretta Eaton residence on the Five Mile Road in Allegany on Tuesday after 2:00pm until the time of services Wednesday (August 28, 2002). A prayer service will be held at 10:30am at the Eaton residence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Kevin Downey, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
