Obituary of Margaret Louise Pries

Margaret Louise Pries “loving wife mother and grandmother” Allegany, NY—Margaret Louise Pries of 124 N. 3rd St. died Monday (September 11, 2006) in her home. Born May 28, 1923 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Raymond and Mary Spears Maynard. On June 18, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church in Olean she married Robert Pries who survives. Mrs. Pries graduated from Olean High School and had been employed by the former Bradner’s Department Store for ten years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany where she was a former Sunday school teacher for many years, later becoming an elder of the church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed making afghans and doilies, and loved house cats. Surviving besides her husband of the Bradford Manor in Bradford, PA are 2 daughters Nancy (Donald) Roll of Great Valley and Margaret Englund of Cheektowaga; 2 grandchildren Brian Englund and Jennifer Englund; 2 step grandchildren Dustin Roll and James Roll; 1 brother James (Barbara) Maynard of Olean; 1 sister Ruth (Kenneth) Wuethrich of Olean and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother William Maynard. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 6-8pm. Visitation will continue on Friday (September 15, 2006) from 9:30am until time of services at 11:00am. Rev. Daniel !McKee, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the American Cancer Society or to Meals on Wheels.
