Obituary of Colette M. Sweet

Colette M. Sweet— “Former Olean resident” Williamsville, NY- Colette M. Sweet of 200 Bassett Road, Williamsville, NY passed away Sunday (October 29, 2006) at the Oakwood Health Care Center. Born June 7, 1912 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Peter and Mildred Farr Bender. She married Robert Sweet who predeceased her in August 1988. Mrs. Sweet was an Olean High School graduate and also received her nursing degree. She was a lifelong Olean resident and was an LPN on the maternity floor at St. Francis Hospital for over 25 years. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer and an immense supporter of animal rights issues. She is survived by 2 sons William (Gretchen) Sweet of Snyder, NY and James (Cathy) Sweet of Mt. Lebanon, PA; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 brother Al Bender and 1 son Robert Sweet. Friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation to be held Saturday (November 4, 2006) from 2-5pm at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State St. Olean. A memorial service will follow at 5:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to the Meals on Wheels program C/O Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging or the SPCA.
