C. Wayne Carr “Retired dairy farmer” Hinsdale, NY—C. Wayne Carr of 4239 Gile Hollow Rd. died Monday (November 13, 2006) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born August 17, 1913 in Farmersville, NY he was the son of Jay and Alice Steele Carr. On May 5, 1945 in Bradford, PA he married Vera Edwards who survives. Mr. Carr was a retired dairy farmer in Hinsdale having operated his family’s farm for over 60 years. He also worked as a custodian for Hinsdale Central School for ten years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church and of the Eastern Milk Producers Association where he formerly served as secretary. He was a member of the former Hinsdale Odd Fellows Lodge and the former Hinsdale Grange. He produced maple syrup from his farm and he and his wife enjoyed traveling. Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons Larry (Judy) Carr and Randolph (Ann) Carr, both of Hinsdale; 1 daughter Carol (Keith) Trask of Charlotte, NC; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 brother Fred Carr of Falconer; a half brother Lester (Doris) Kenfield of Middletown, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Catherine Galek. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Thursday (November 16, 2006) from 11am until noon at which time funeral services will be held. Rev. Dr. Carl Schultz, pastor of Hinsdale United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hinsdale United Methodist Church, the Hinsdale Alumni Scholarship Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
